Who am I Serving.

"Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity, and quicken thou me in thy way. Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear."

(Psalm 119:36-38)

Want to truly grow in your love for the Lord? Read Psalm 119. Every verse is packed full of prayerful hunger for God. As I read, I came across my own commentary on these verses:

Serving self is so.... natural; yet perhaps ironically, not really "easy," for self is a vicious master: it drives and pushes me to the end of my limits, leaving me stressed, drained, and joyless. Still, even in the emptiness, self deceives to try yet again- requiring more and more and repaying nothing.

Serving the Lord is completely un-natural; yet His burden is light. He waits for me to come to the end of "me" so that He can carry me to greater heights. Instead of driving, He draws me to Him. Instead of emptiness, He fills me with life, joy, hope and peace. He requires everything, yet richly repays with all spiritual blessings.

Christ alone is worth living for. Turn away from fleeting worldly pleasure and turn to the One who died for you!
