Eternal Father
If ye then, being evil,
know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father
which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Matthew 7:11
Even the most loving parents and the kindest of
intentions could not compare to the Father’s love of His children. He cannot give a bad gift, just like good parents wouldn't give their three year old a viper. It is easy when
I see trouble, sickness, and evil in the world, to doubt the goodness of God.
Could He possibly have planned this for MY life??? -But really, who defines
good?
Today, many people use the word good to mean a variety of
things, ranging from really good to really not good at all. In Genesis 1, when God is creating the world
(long before I was around), God said repeatedly “It is good.” Did He mean “good
enough” or “so good it can’t get better?” The more I have thought about it, the
more I realize how I try to re-define God. What does it matter you say? Well, I
try to define His goodness by our standards, or meaning, of the word good. That’s
totally pointless, because they don’t even compare. God is SO good, that His
goodness exceeds our ideas of PERFECTION.
God gives good gifts because He is good Father. I may not understand WHY it is a
good gift or HOW it is supposed to work out for good, but I KNOW I can rest in
my Eternal Father. He’s been around a long time. He doesn’t do things half-way
or as an after-thought. He is good.
Run to the Father.
Climb in His arms. Tell Him your problem and then trust Him to deal with it. He
is good. He will take care of you.
James 1:17
Eternal Father,
when to Thee,
Beyond all worlds, by faith I soar,
Before Thy boundless majesty
I stand in silence, and adore.
Beyond all worlds, by faith I soar,
Before Thy boundless majesty
I stand in silence, and adore.
But Savior, Thou art by my side;
Thy voice I hear, Thy face I see:
Thou art my Friend, my daily Guide;
God over all, yet God with me.
Thy voice I hear, Thy face I see:
Thou art my Friend, my daily Guide;
God over all, yet God with me.
