The Refreshment of Fellowship

Dearly Appreciated Praying Friends,

Thank you all so much for your prayers! This work could not continue without strong prayer support. I would not survive. Your faithfulness in bringing Taiwan, CEI, and me before the throne greatly enhances and extends our ministry. I appreciate you all so very much!

The newsletter this week has a different tone to it, because this week was so different. HTC Foundation held a conference for all their CEI teams. What a blessing to get to know co-workers in the larger spectrum, swap ideas, and gain refreshment of purpose!

Attentively listening to the speaker.
- The speaker, Jeremy M. moved to Taiwan from America 40 years ago, and spoke in English (and then translated to Mandarin as needed). It was so nice to hear an English speaker!

- The theme of the week was “Joyful Service.” Over and over again, I thought to myself, If this is what unbelievers think, why is it so hard for Christians to live? They addressed issues such as burn-out, team tension, communication, and attitude.

- We watched a video called the “FISH” story. This video highlighted the importance of an enthusiastic workplace, and made 4 points: have fun, make their day, be there, and choose your attitude. It really encouraged us to think about the ripple effects of what we do every day. We are impacting lives, and we have a short 5 days to do it. Also, how can we keep our work more enjoyable?

- One area God showed to me this week involved my responses. I need to “choose” my responses before I need them, so I have a battle plan and know how to answer in the moment. I am excited to see how God will change me in this area.

Teamwork!
- We enjoyed several activities which cultivated and strengthened our team work. I would share more specifics, but I’m saving these for when I come home. Though all the teams had different dynamics and strengths, I couldn’t help but be grateful for my amazing team. Our leader is selfless and encouraging. -Really, the only thing that she could improve would be to know Christ as her Saviour.

All in all, I felt greatly encouraged by the support of the HTC Foundation Leadership team, and I felt refreshed as a teacher. I am so grateful!

A Fellow Laborer and Bondservant,
Barbara J. Sutton
