God is NOT Limited

God is not limited.

No, seriously! God is never "in a fix," never in need of food or money, never surprised, and never in need of help.

This is the thought that has been hanging in my mind recently. God wanted me to remember how BIG He is and how small I am. Just who do I think I am, anyway?  Life is not about me. It's about God.  In fact, if you think about it, all of history is His story- it's about God.

Just what got me started on this whole subject? Psalm 50. Most everyone is familiar with Psalm 51, where David sees His sin and confesses to the Lord, asking forgiveness.  I find it ironic that the chapter before is about God- BIG, Almighty, Sovereign, Powerful.  God's perfection and man's sin beautifully contrasted. It got me re-thinking (and repenting) my selfish attitude and prideful agenda.

Before you keep reading, stop. Get your Bible and read Psalms 50 and 51. It will take 5 minutes or less. -But the concepts will keep you thinking all day long.

--------

There. Did you do it?  Did you think about what you were reading? To be honest with you, I have a really bad habit of reading without really thinking. -Especially early in the morning. That is why I started re-reading the passages I read in the morning before I go to bed, so that I actually think about the message God is saying. Well anyway, that's a rabbit trail.

Of all the chapter, these verses especially stuck out to me:

"I will not take a bull from your house, nor goats out of your folds. For every beast of the forest is Mine, and  the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the mountains, and the wild beasts of the field are Mind. If I were hungry, I would not tell you; for the world is Mine, and all its fullness.

...Offer to God thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High. Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me."  Psalms 50:9-15

Did you get it? God doesn't need me. He doesn't need you. He owns everything- the universe is at His fingertips.  Our response to His magnanimity is thanksgiving, service, and prayer. In short- you and I are here to glorify God.

That, my friends, is life changing material. But now, what to do?
