The very first Christmas didn't have Christmas trees and lights, candy canes or turkey; -Santa wasn't even there! In fact, there weren't even any "nativity sets" because no one had ever heard of Christmas. Jesus started Christmas, and He really completes Christmas for us too.
In junior church today, we roll-played the Christmas story, word for word out of the Bible. It amazed me how many children had never heard about Jesus' birth before. When you include prophet's foretelling Christ's coming and the birth of John, the story is really quite long. The kids were enjoying it, even though we didn't finish the story- we'll finish next week. What a blessing to share the real reason for Christmas and how it can apply to them 365 days a year.
May the Reason for Christmas bless and keep you throughout 2011.

The last couple of weeks, I have been sick and unable to teach junior church. No worries! My able little (BIG) brother, Mr. David, taught for me. Reading the stories from Character Sketches, the class is now on the quality courage. -Perhaps it is good that Mr. David is teaching! He is wonderful at capturing guy's imagination and heroic desires and putting them into a dynamic wartime Bible story. It's great! Here's a few pictures...
